Terroir
Originally rooted in the world of wine, terroir has found a happy home in beer, cider, spirits, and beyond. It reflects how local conditions—things like mineral-rich soil, rainfall, elevation, native microbes, and even farming practices—shape the flavors of ingredients like hops, barley, grapes, and fruit.
In beer, terroir might show up as a subtle earthiness in locally grown hops, a mineral snap from regional water, or wild yeast that adds a signature funk. It’s why the same recipe brewed in two different places can taste noticeably different.
Terroir reminds us that beverages aren’t just crafted—they’re grown. Each glass tells a story of land, weather, and time, connecting the drinker to the environment where it all began.
