Adjunct is an ingredient used in brewing alongside malted barley to contribute fermentable sugars, flavor, aroma, color, body, or other characteristics to beer. Common brewing adjuncts include corn, rice, wheat, oats, rye, sugar, fruit, and spices.

From the rice and corn traditionally used in American lagers to oats in hazy IPAs and fruit in contemporary sour beers, adjunct ingredients give brewers another set of tools for creating distinctive beers.
